The best leadership comes from supporting the people we lead as servant leaders, City Council members must treat residents as our bosses. It's the way I lead as a Project Manager, I will bring the same energy to the City Council.

Meet Yenni

Hello! I’m Yenni Desroches (she/her) and I’m running for Worcester’s District 5 City Council Seat to fight for a more modern, equitable, and accessible Worcester.

I moved to Worcester in 2013 when my husband Jon and I bought our home in Newton Square and I fell in love with the city’s history, character, and potential for growth.

We live in a 3 family as owner-occupied landlords, where we have affordable pet-friendly units with no breed restrictions. This was important to me as there are far too few options for pet-owning renters, especially people with so-called “banned breeds.”

In 2014 we got married and I opened Next Level Pet Care, a professional pet care business. We were in operation for 6 years before the pandemic forced me to close. I had a number of wonderful employees over the years and clients that I miss dearly, but, with the uncertainty of how things were going to return and when, I could not rationally see a way through without closing permanently.

Between our 3 family, my professional pet care business, and 7 other small businesses I owned in the past, I’ve seen the ups and downs that businesses go through. I’ve had a front-row seat to the opportunities and challenges we face as we attempt to grow the Worcester economy and recover from the long-lasting effects of the pandemic.

Throughout my entire life, I have always been a problem solver.  It’s a trait that has served me well professionally as both a game developer and small business owner, and it is exactly what our city council needs right now.

In college, studying game development and project management taught me that every problem has a solution, as long as you approach the issue with tenacity and creativity.

We must apply sound research tactics and properly analyze the issues before us by getting the best data we can find on the topics, speaking to experts in those fields, gathering first-hand accounts, and then making decisions or taking action based on that evidence.

As the pandemic’s effects will last for years to come, Worcester finds itself at a crossroads. Decisions we make today will impact our community for generations.

Our incredible history and tradition have laid the foundation for a new chapter, one where our renaissance and revitalizing economy can lead to a more inclusive and equitable community.

There are major opportunities in front of us, to prepare for the changes technology and automation will bring, improve our infrastructure, grow our public transportation, support our schools and expand access to affordable housing.

As your city council member, I’ll make sure that all voices are heard and seek out the new ideas and fresh perspectives that will guide our decision making to build a Worcester that’s modern, efficient and fair for all.

Let's Move Worcester Forward Together!
